The history of ColFalco Tenuta has distant origins. In 1970 Giovanni Ruggeri was one of the first people to believe in the Montefalco area and in what soon would become his vine symbol "Sagrantino".
It was in fact John Ruggeri, who with great passion and dedication began producing this historic wine, albeit in the traditional way, but able to get to know and appreciate those who had the potential of this grape variety.
The new winery is located on one of the most picturesque hills of the district of Montefalco, renamed precisely Col Falcon.
From here you can admire the Big Valley Umbra and see the cities of Assisi, Spello, Bevagna and Perugia and of course the ever-present postcard of Montefalco.
From the two hectares planted in the early seventies it has gone today to the six hectares with varieties ranging from Sagrantino Sangiovese, Merlot, Chardonnay and Grechetto.
The winery today is conducted keeping an eye on environmental protection with the installation of a photovoltaic system for clean energy and reducing the use of pesticides with forms of cultivation as green manure that are inspired by the past, all this faithful witness of a family of ancient wine growers in Montefalco.
